Making resolutions each year can help us live a healthier, fulfilling life – but as we all know, many resolutions can be hard to withstand for the whole year or for years to come. In fact, many resolutions don’t even make it past the first couple of months. That’s why we wanted to provide you with some specific, age-appropriate, and most of all, achievable goals for 2022.

Rekindle an Old Friendship

As life goes on, it’s easier to get busy and forget about relationships that at one time were very active or important in your life. What better time than now to rekindle with those old friends? You may be at the point where you have more time on your hands to chat with old friends or even meet up with them for lunch, a movie or just coffee. It never hurts to pick up the phone and make the call – you'll be happy you did.

Make Healthier Choices

By now, nearly all of us have thought about dieting or have dieted in the past – it just isn’t something that really works. So instead of taking drastic measures, we encourage you to simply make healthier choices. Whether that means cutting out dessert or taking a smaller portion, or maybe it’s not food-related and it’s just getting a 10-minute walk in for the day. Each little healthy choice adds up and makes a difference. This will help change your lifestyle and not be a temporary fad.

Challenge Your Brain

Keeping your brain working is good for all ages, but especially good for older adults. Some ideas to keep your mind challenged are to do a puzzle, attempt a crossword or simply read a book. Any memory game or reading is always a good way to keep your mind active and healthy.

Get Fresh Air

It’s amazing how something as simple as getting a little fresh air can have a positive impact on your day and, in turn, your life. Fresh air has been shown to improve blood pressure, heart rate, and strengthen your immune system. These are just a few of the ways this will positively impact your life.

Try Something New

Trying something new is something that can sometimes be scary but is good for your mind and body. Getting into a habit of trying new things helps lead you to more meaning and purpose in your life. You could be missing out on something you would love and just not know it yet. Make this year the year you try something new. What will it be for you?

Now that you have a few ideas for a resolution for the new year, don’t waste another day. Get out there and start improving your life. If you’re looking for any daily living aids or mobility devices to help you achieve one of these goals, don’t hesitate to reach out to the experts at ThedaCare at Home.
