For individuals with a disability, finding the right outdoor activities to allow you to enjoy all that nature has to offer can be difficult. In this blog, we’ve listed some fun outdoor activities that are handicap accessible near the Appleton/Green Bay Area.  

Trails  

The Green Bay Area has several trails that are handicapped accessible:  

1. Morgan Falls Trail - 1.2 miles round trip. This trail was reconstructed in 2002 to make it accessible.  

2. Horicon National Wildlife Refuge - The boardwalk is 0.25 miles and accessible. 

 

Parks 

1. Ashwaubomay Park - Looking over the Fox River, this 85-acre facility has areas for picnicking and a beachfront to enjoy.  

2. Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve - There are many things to do at the Barkhausen Preserve along the west shore of Green Bay.

3. Bay Shore County Park - Bay Shore County Park is approximately 15 miles north of Green Bay. Bay Shore has handicap-accessible trails, as well as many campsites if you choose to stay overnight. There are places to picnic as well as fish.

1. The NEW Zoo- Approximately 10 miles northwest of Downtown Green Bay, The NEW Zoo offers over 200+ animals to see. You are even able to feed giraffes. 

2. Green Bay Botanical Garden - Explore 47 acres including 65,000 plants.  

 

Go Fishing  

1. Fish All Day - Fish All Day on the USCG Captain David's fully equipped Nitro ZV21 powered with a 350hp Mercury Verado, Nitro's largest-sized walleye boat.  

2. Fishin’ Magician Charter - Enjoy some fishing or a nice boat ride on the 30 ft boat.
